AQUARIUM
A stroll along the seaside pedestrian walk, in the city of Rhodes, leads to the northernmost edge of the island. This is where the Hydro biological Station of Rhodes-Aquarium is located. Housed in a building of unique architectural style and it has been fashioned in the form of an underwater sea cave. Sinuous corridors, artfully decorated with natural sea-shells create a true underwater ambience.
MEDIEVAL TOWN
In the heart of Rhodes, in the Medieval City, a haunting and mysterious air wafts through the streets, summoned back to life through the centuries. If one walks around the always lively town, one can almost hear the hoof beats of the horses and the whispering voices of history. The Medieval City of Rhodes is one of the rare survivors of the medieval world and it stands unscathed, in all its vibrant beauty. In 1988, UNESCO declared the architectural complex of the Knights of Rhodes to be World Heritage Site.
CASINO
Casino Rhodes & Grande Albergo delle Rose Hotel, because of the impressive garden overgrown with colorful roses, is one of the iconic buildings of Rhodes. Since May of 1927 till nowadays prominent personalities honored the hotel with their presence, such as, Aristotle Onassis, Winston Churchill and Maria Kallas. Its luxurious establishment housed the events of great historical importance, with one of the most important being the signing of the declaration of the State of Israel in 1948.
MUNICIPAL GALLERY OF RHODES
The Municipal Gallery of Rhodes is housed in a nice building situated at Symi square, just at the entrance of the medieval town. Today the Gallery has one of the most representative and authoritative collections of Greek Painting and Engraving of the 20th century.
MANDRAKI
The marine at the port of the city of Rhodes, actually known as Mandraki, is used for mooring of many yachts and boats. Well protected from all winds, it offers excellent services. As the facilities offered make it very popular, the Marine at Mandraki gets insufficient for the needs. Thus, it has already started the construction of a new, bigger Marine, of higher capacity.
NIGHTLIFE
The capital of the island of Rhodes offers a wide choice of nightlife. In the area around the harbor there are many bars and traditional Greek taverns, while in the New town there are also some places where someone can hear the bouzouki and many others traditional Greek musical instruments. The epicenter of nightlife on Rhodes is its famous “Bar Street” (known as Orfanidou), a road located near the waterfront of the city, full of trendy bars and clubs of all kinds, including the typical disco-bars, which offer a wide variety of music genres and lots of fun.
MONTE SMITH
From this serene vantage point, far from the urban hustle and bustle, one can see the town of Rhodes spread out below, and also the surrounding Ixia Bay with its glittering azure waters. On slopes of the hill itself are the ruins of the Hellenistic Acropolis of Rhodes which includes the Temple of Apollo and an ancient stadium.
RODINI PARK
It is a park which is identified as one of the oldest in the whole world. Rodini Park consists of a vast garden of wild and majestic natural beauty with running water reaching lakes and waterfalls, bridges, pavilions and the beautiful presence of peacocks, deer, ducks and other graceful small sized animals.
FILERIMOS
The hill of Filerimos or Filerimos is located in the south-west of the Island, just 5 km from Ialyssos city and 11 km from Rhodes town. The southwestern part of Filerimos and walking the so-called road Martyrdom or Calvary, a road built by the Priests Latinos and represents in stone columns 12 stops made by Lord ascending Calvary, one ends up in a small square in the middle of which is located the imposing Cross. The view from a height of 267 meters is amazing.
DIAGORAS AIRPORT
The airport is located 15 km west of Rhodes town. It operates all days and hours of time and offering a lot of services such as, car rentals, car parking and duty free shop.
FALIRAKI
At a distance of 11 km from the Rhodes town, Faliraki is the most popular and highly organized beach on Island, more than 5 kilometers wide. Here anyone can find anything such as, water sports, cafeterias, night clubs, restaurants, bungee-jumping, places for shopping and the impressive Water Park, which is currently the biggest in the whole of Europe.
KALLITHEA SPRINGS
Kallithea Springs are located at the bay of Kallithea, just 9km from the City of Rhodes. Nowadays the renovated, majestic premises of Kallithea Springs completely restored and tastefully refurbished are welcoming once again hundreds of visitors per day, being one of the most popular attractions on the island of Rhodes.
AFANDOU GOLF
The Afandou Golf Course, one of the most complete Golf clubs in the Mediterranean, is located on Afandou Bay at a distance of 18 km southern to the town of Rhodes. Features: 18-holes, par-73, golf course 6.218 meters.
SEVEN SPRINGS
The area was named after its seven natural springs. The combination of crystal-clear waters with pine and plate trees creates peaceful scenery, offering the visitor relaxing moments. Two of the main walking options are following the dark tunnel down about 180 meters to the lake or follow the road that lies above the actual tunnel which again will bring you down to the lake. Definitely something different!
LINDOS
Lindos combines relaxation and intense life, the journey into the past with the natural beauty & wonderful beaches. The Acropolis of Lindos is classified as a monument and it is a hill accessible by foot or by donkey.
VALLEY OF BUTTERFLIES
Near Theologos village, 10 km from the airport, there is the most popular natural attraction of Rhodes, the Valley of Butterflies. It is located in a beautiful setting with lush vegetation, waterfalls and springs, while the space is configured with wooden bridges, benches and ponds. Every year from mid-June to September, butterflies gather here to mate, creating a spectacular colorful sight.
ANCIENT KAMIROS
On the north-western shore of Rhodes, lies the third of The Island’s ancient cities – Kamiros. It was one of the three large Doric cities of the island, which united with Ialyssos and Lindos in the 5th century B.C. to create the powerful city – state of Rhodes.
PRASONISI
Prassonisi is the last edge of Rhodes at the very South and is found at a distance of 95 kilometers of Rhodes town. It is a strange place: in winter it is a small islet, but in summer you will see a small peninsula. The islet is connected with the rest of the island with a narrow strip of sandy land, which in winter is totally covered by the sea waves! Prassonisi is the meeting point of the fans of windsurfing.
